A shaking piper opened the door to an equally shaken and worried Rose and Aiden. They rushed to the house from the park when Rose got a call from her grandfather who told them to return immediately. Rose was so worried that something happened to her grandma Piper but she felt relieved when piper opened the door but she still felt something was off and immediately the twins came into her mind.
"Oh God! No! The twins, grand ma did something happen to them?!" Rose face paled at that thought.
"No! No, my precious! Nothing happened to them. Calm down." Piper held her hand when she staggered back and let her in towards the living room. There stood two tall and heavily built men dressed immaculately in black suits and a man of her father's age seated on the couch.
"Hello Miss Waters, I'm Ryan Randell, a special friend of Logan and also his lawyer. I'm here to rely a message of his, to you." the man seated on the couch stood up as she reached the hall; introduced himself adjusting his spectacles and offered his hand for handshake.
"What does he want? How dare you, to come here? Get out right now!" Aiden spoke aggressively at the mention of Logan's name. Rose just stood there, devoid of emotions. It's been five years since she heard of Logan's name or anything from and about him. Now suddenly what happened, that he sent someone to rely his message. All the pain, memories of them hit her like a hurricane making her collapse on the single seat nearby the couch. Looking at the state of Rose, Aiden unable to control his anger, bellowed at them to get out of the house again, not paying heed to anything said by her grandparents.
"Stop!" Rose shouted at them, recovering from her state. She knows she didn't want to do anything with him nor hear anything, but a part of her forced her to hear what the so called special friend came here to say for. At least then, she could finally feel at peace and relieve from the bad feelings she felt all day.
" Aiden, let him say what he came for." She raised her hand, stopping Aiden from speaking anymore and signaled Mr. Randell to talk.
"Thank you Miss Waters. I actually came here to inform you about a very important and critical situation Logan is in. Since you're the one who's in his will and emergency list, I had to come here" Randall spoke. Piper sobbed silently as she couldn't control her grief anymore while Popeye consoled her. Rose couldn't understand what was happening, why her grandma was crying and the sorrow in the voice of Mr. Randell. But one thing she understood was that something serious happened when the lawyer told her that she is the sole person in his will. A sudden realization dawned on her after the actual meaning of his words sank into her mind.
Oh no! Oh no!
"What happened to him? What the hell happened to Logan? Where is he? Why are you talking about his Will?!" She stood up, tears flooding her face inn seconds. Logan might have left her, but she never ever wished bad for him. She always hoped he was happy wherever and whoever he is with.
God! Please, don't let anything happen to him. She cried, inconsolable at the thought of him, being in some danger. They may not be together anymore but he was her best friend after all and she don't want him to be harmed in anyway.
"Where is his wife? Why did you come here for Rose when he had a god damn wife?" Aiden questioned the lawyer.
"Wife? Logan was never married. He never had a wife." Ryan was puzzled at the question. He never knew Logan was married. Yes, he knew that Logan suffered a massive heart break and a tragedy past but never went into the depth of the situations. He doesn't even know who Rose is, until he had to get in contact with her according to the Will. Now that he had seen the reactions of the people in the house, he felt they were connected to his past.
"What? What are you talking about? Logan's indeed married. His wife name is Kiera, heiress of Charles Enterprise. He married her in front of me." Rose told, equally shocked at the news. She couldn't really understand what he is talking.
"I'm sorry Miss Waters, there must be some misunderstanding. I have known Logan for four years and he isn't married, let alone had a girlfriend. He was like a saint, never had a fling or even one night stands in all the years I have known him. I had to drag him to the clubs or to any parties sometimes regarding business with great difficulty." the lawyer protested. All of them are looked baffled at the words coming from him. Rose suddenly felt like, she is losing her sanity and consciousness at the same time.
"Rose don't listen to him. He must be lying, after all he is that bastard's friend. We can't believe either of them. We don't want to hear your bullshit anymore. So leave immediately." Aiden glared at the three men who were the messengers of the conniving bastard. He caused her enough grief already and Aiden wouldn't allow him to do that anymore not when she is trying to take second chances in her life.
Not when she is trying to give me a chance.
"I am sorry Miss Rose, but we don't have much time left and I sincerely request you to believe me. I don't know what happened in the past between you and Logan. But I only came here for my friend Logan who is fighting his death, just to see you for the last time." Ryan's eyes watered as he spoke about his dearest friend. He never ever in his life has expected that a day like this would come.
"W- wh- what are you talking? Please just tell me what happened to him?" Rose mustered up all the courage she could after the words left his mouth.
"Logan was in an accident one and half year back. He was seriously injured and was in coma since then. The doctors expected him to recover in six months of time, but there was not an ounce of recovery in him. It's like as if he lost all the wish and hope to live. One day, he suddenly opened his eyes asking for you, telling me he needed to see you. But he suddenly suffered a heart attack the same day and was on ventilator since then. But . . . . " Ryan stopped talking unable to continue anymore.
"But the doctor declared few weeks back that he can't recover anymore, because he is not responding to the treatment at all. That. it's time to let him go. We were searching for your whereabouts since then and only now we could find you through your mutual school friend Lisa." One the men dressed in black spoke.
"Please Miss Rose, we beg you to visit him just once so that he can leave peacefully. We just wanted to fulfill his last wish." one of the two large men spoke sobbing silently.
"Miss Rose, as per the Will, you are the sole benefactor and the only person who has the authority to give permission to cut off the life support." Ryan told in a deep somber voice. Everyone except Aiden and Ryan were bitterly weeping while Ryan wiped his eyes trying to maintain his composure. Aiden was in utter shock and couldn't just believe his ears. He hated Logan with all his heat, but after knowing about his current condition, he couldn't decide how to perceive the sudden information and respond to it.
"Wh- where, where i- is he now?" Rose lost all the courage. She was now crying violently unable to control the grief.
She was crying for that Logan who protected her when their fellow classmates bullied her. She was crying for that Logan who saved her when she drowned in the lake even when he himself doesn't know how to swim. She was crying for that Logan who had been her rock when she lost her parents in an accident. She was crying for that Logan who left his home town, his house the only memory of his mother just so he could keep her safe from his abusive father. She was crying for that Logan who's her everything.
She needed to see him. She can let him die. No! She can't let him go. He has to live. He can't leave her!
