Aiden was on cloud nine when Rose came down all ready for the date. The long awaited date was finally happening. He felt like pinching himself, unable believe the reality. Even though they already went on two dates during and after university, this date was special and important to him. Aiden hoped this would be special for Rose also. He was happy but frightened on what her reaction would be but whatever it is he was prepared for it. Whatever might happen he wouldn't Rose and her friendship.
Rose was wearing blue jeans and a pretty pink off shoulder crop top with light make up on and curled her wavy hair to give it more definition. She has put in the efforts this time sincerely, even though, she is crumbling with anxiety inside. 'No, I am stronger than this', she thought motivating herself.
Rose went into her grandpa's room to say bye, whose was not so happy about her going on a date which Piper couldn't understand though he didn't reveal his intentions to Rose. Piper was happy jumping internally, that her previous is finally found on a date, ready to embrace the life again. She just hoped that Rose would give a chance to Aiden and herself. Piper hugged her when they were ready to leave and whispered a "good luck", patting her back lovingly.
Rose was doing a hard job at calming her nerves while she and Aiden left for the date in his car. Her palms felt sweaty and she felt hot even in the fully air-conditioned car. She gave herself a pep talk before she came down from her room, but the look on Aiden's face when he saw her, stumped her preparation. It felt like he was preparing something big, something that might hurt them both in different ways. She clasped her hands tightly wishing her nerves to calm down for once.
Aiden looked at her through his peripheral vision sensing her sudden discomfort. He put his hand on her clasped hands, smiled at her. Rose managed to give him a small smile. She decided to start a conversation to change the atmosphere.
"Where are you taking me?" She asked. They passed the town road and are heading towards the outskirts of the city.
"I'm taking you on a date. Don't you know?" Aiden tried to joke. She rolled her eyes at his failed jokes.
"Funny! I thought you were taking me to some deep forests to murder me." He suddenly stopped the car to a side with a jerk and turned to her with an evil smile resembling a well-prepared murder.
" How did you guess correctly?" He asked coming closer to her face. Horror filled her faced at his sudden change of face.
"Ai- Aiden!" She stuttered shrinking back. Aiden looked at her and laughed aloud clutching his stomach at her reaction. Rose came back from her shock and hit him hard for scaring her.
"This is why I said, you shouldn't watch horror movies! But you wouldn't listen." Aiden teased her. She glared at him for scaring her already discomposed heart. She turned to the window and kept silent which made Aiden worry that he had upset her.
"I'm sorry Rose! I didn't mean to upset you. I was just messing with you." He apologized panicked at her silence. Rose smiled to herself and turned to him grinning hugely. His eyes widened realizing she played him and started the car muttering something about getting played because of his innocence to which Rose laughed.
They reached the destination of their finally after an hour drive and Rose felt it was worth all the drive. They entered the theme park loaded with families, couples and friends. She always loved theme parks and this was the first she came to one in 5 years. She immediately, dismissed her thoughts going to that particular him when Aiden held her hand.
"Do you like ?" He asked.
"I love it! It's perfect! Thank you, Aiden." She thanked him, a genuine smile gracing her face in all the day. Aiden returned the smile content that the evening started as planned. Little did he know that it was for a short period.
"What do you want to start with?" He asked the excited Rose. This was the first time he saw Rose's face lit with pure excitement and happiness in the five years. He was happy that he was the reason but a dark shadow fell over his face when he thought of him who was the reason for her sorrow. Who was the reason she still couldn't accept him or his love for her.
"Hey! What got you lost ha?" Rose waved her hand in front his face bringing him back from his angered thoughts. He smiled at her shaking his head nothing.
"I want to go on the Ferris wheel first. Come on lost head!" She teased him, dragging him holding his hand towards the ticket counter.
Rose is happy for the first time in all these years, genuinely happy. All these years she faked happiness on her face for the sake of her family, friends not wanting them to feel the burden because of her inability to be happy. But today, she's genuinely happy and it's because of Aiden. She couldn't thank him more and hoped this evening ends like this.
After one hour of bliss, Rose and Aiden were exhausted and their stomach growling with hunger. They got into Ferris wheels, bungee jump, paint balls, etcetera having the fill of their evening.
"What do you want to eat?" Aiden asked as they neared a restaurant with outside sitting. Rose glanced around her, looking at the happy people enjoying with their family, forgetting their sorrows and burdens of the day, returning home with a renewed energy and sense of hope to beat tomorrow.
"Surprise me!" Rose answered obviously lost in her own pleasure of seeing others happy. Aiden laughed softly at her weird happiness which he never understood. He went in side the restaurant, to order their food.
"Well, there is one more thing I want to show you." Aiden told suddenly nervous. He is now going to reveal the real reason he planned the date for. He was unnerved of what her reaction would be. He can already guess it but still he wanted to hope to pursue her to give him a chance.
"What is it? I think we have almost got into every part of the park. " Rose questioned not understanding his nervousness.
"Well, actually we left a place. And I think we should rush there since they are gonna close it in a half hour. " He held her hand, pulling her up from the chair she sat. He started speed walking towards the darker side of the theme. No one was there and there was tent illuminating with the name "confessions".
They entered the tent decorated brightly with colored lights and balloons. They went deeper into the tent, which was then Rose realized that it was not a small one rather a big one. The deeper part was decorated with her favourite things, frames of her pictures they took since their friendship started. Rose then understood that Aiden planned something big and she couldn't stop it even if she tried. She opened her mouth but he closed by placing a single finger on her lips not allowing her to speak. 'Dammit! What should I do?' thought Rose.
"Please Rose, don't say anything till I complete" he requested her turned around holding her shoulders with both hands. She nodded slowly panicking where this will go.
"I know you were hurt by him and I also know you might not forget him or forgo your love for him forever. But I just wanted a chance to actually show you my love in real not just by being your side silently but by really involving in your life. I don't even know how to say with out scaring you or damaging out friendship. I just wanted a chance to try, to make a place for me and my love in your heart. Please Rose! Just give me one chance. A chance is all I ask for. " He confessed his feelings.
A bit of distaste gracing his face when he talked about him and a bit of fear of what her reaction would. Her rejection, he might bear, but her anger, damaging their friendship is something he can't even fathom to think. He just hoped that this time she would see his sincerity in the love for her and give him a chance. Somewhere in the depths of his fear and skepticism, he felt that there was a ray of hope this time at seeing the determined face when she came downstairs from her room. He prayed it to become true.
Rose don't know what to say. She don't want to hurt him anymore, but she can't even give him false hopes. What he said was right. She can never love someone like she loved Logan. But that doesn't mean she can't love at all. 'It's not like Logan will ever come back for me, since he is happy with the love of his life.' She thought spitefully at the thought of him with her. Her heart bleeds every time imagining him getting all lovely with her having a nice life while he left her to her fate. She decided she wouldn't give that sort of heart break to someone else and she wouldn't just stay as a spinster with no life. She would make it clear to Aiden about her predicament so that he wouldn't expect and keep high hopes of her. 'Yes! She would do that!' determined she turned around to him.
The sight of Aiden with a face full of hope made her heart stricken with guilt. But she couldn't break his heart just like hers when she isn't fully capable of committing herself to him. It's better to hurt now than later like 'he' did to her. She neared him smiling slightly. Just as she opened her mouth to voice her decision, a shrill ring of the phone ended it before it started, changing her decisions and fate once again.
It's just she didn't know whether it is for good or to worsen her life more than it is now.
