"Rose Waters, remember I have and will always love you till after my last breath no matter what happens." He told, kissing me deeply not allowing me to question the sorrowfulness behind his statement. 'No matter what happens' why does it feel like a goodbye. No, that can't be possible. He slammed the door shut leaving me locked inside the room. His eyes misted with tears as if he was trying hard to suppress the emotions he felt when he was uttering those words, looking at my face longingly like it would be the last time he sees me.
Rose jerked awake covered in sweat, from the nightmare, that had been haunting her for the past five years. Logan Hunters, the man she loved unconditionally, her childhood best friend, her rock, who left her locked in a room after spending the night confessing their love for each other infinite times, and suddenly broke up with her not even offering her a reason. He exited from her life, scarring her love for him deep enough that she couldn't recover even after all these years.
'Wounds heal with time', whoever said that should be hanged to death because, in truth, wounds don't really heal, we just get used to them. The pain might become numb after some time, but the wounds never heal. They might get healed physically but not emotionally. And she is no exception to that.
It had been 5 years since Logan left her, to get together with his ex-fiance, now his wife, Mrs. Kiera Logan Hunters the heiress of Charles Enterprises. She never understood why he told he loved her and would do until his last breath, when in the very next hour he was going to marry Kiera, with vows of love, in front her, shattering her heart, soul, and love eternally. Her heart ached, whenever she thought of him in all these years. She remembered him every minute, every day in all these years, making it impossible to heal.
Yes, she graduated successfully with a distinction, was sponsored by an anonymous investor for her bakery venture that produces signature cakes, pastries etcetera with a unique blend of her culture. Her grandparents' organic farm producing vegetables, fruits and all types of herbs was lifted from bankrupt. Her brother and sister who are twins were studying in their dream university, enjoying the wild freedom of life. Everything felt into place gradually after he left, except her.
Despite Aiden, her co-worker at a restaurant she worked during university and who broke the no date policy of hers, being in every step of her life while she was collecting the broken pieces of her heart to gain stability in life, she was still the same as five years ago. Aiden loves her even when she couldn't reciprocate it. He had been a friend all these years, supporting her to live a normal life. She tried many times to look at him like she did at Logan but failed. She couldn't feel for him anything but friendship and he respected it when she told.
Bakery, taking care of grandparents, Skype with the twins, spending the weekend with Aiden and her university friends Jenson and Laura are her routines, she is following like a tradition these years. Laura has been in love with Aiden since their first meet but didn't dare act on them as she knows that Aiden loves Rose and Aiden didn't try giving her a chance. What they both don't know is that she knows about it from the start, she tried to set them up but they both escaped every time and she finally gave up because her both friends would get hurt if it backfired anymore.
She looked at the clock on the bed stand. It showed 5 am, a half hour more to ring the alarm. She couldn't sleep anymore, so she decided to start the day early and went to fresh up and prepare the breakfast for the old lovebirds, her grandparents. They were with her since her parents died in the tragic accident when she was 13 and the twins were still young. They took care of them overcoming their own loss, being a rock to her most, as the twins were still toddlers then. Since then, her grandparents become the parents they didn't have and is happy to be fulfilling the role as her parents and always wished for happiness. She smiled thinking of her parents, although they were not with her anymore physically, she believed they're always with her in happiness and sorrow. Being an occult strength whenever life hit her hard like a storm and she was stuck in the eye of it, helping her through it and she couldn't wish for more.
Meanwhile, Rose wondered if she could ever overcome the barrier of her love for Logan and accept another man who is not Logan, genuinely. Though she doesn't have the answer for that now, she only hoped that the universe would show her the way when the time is right. Heaving a heavy sigh, she left her bed to get ready for the day.
